Influencer Faye Greenwood is sharing her side of the story after undergoing a heart transplant following a heart attack.
“I couldn’t believe that something that serious would be happening,” Greenwood told BBC on Monday, January 5. “[You think:] ‘That won’t happen to me,’ and then it did.”
Greenwood experienced a heart attack in July 2025 while on vacation in Paris with her now-fiancé, Ailbhe Lower. She began experiencing symptoms such as chest pains and vomiting.
“I can’t really remember a lot, but I just felt I was in really bad pain, something I’ve never felt before,” she explained. “A feeling of doom, like the world was closing in.”

Due to issues with translation and people misunderstanding her heart attack symptoms with her age, Lower shared with the outlet that it took 6.5 hours before Greenwood was admitted to the hospital.
Greenwood, who was previously diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, said doctors are still unsure what led to her heart attack. After her trip, Greenwood was told she might have to wait one year for a heart transplant — but she found a donor in a few months.
“It’s just something you never really think that you’re going to have to deal with,” she said.
After the incident, Greenwood shared that she received a £14,000 (about $18,000) medical bill from the hospital in France and a separate £40,000 bill (about $54,000) for her flight back to the U.K. in an air ambulance. Greenwood explained that the cost was “really scary,” as she and Lower had moved out of his mom’s house six months earlier.

“So we were only just getting on track with our lives and our jobs and everything, and then it just went downhill,” she explained.
Through it all, Greenwood — who has more than 300,000 Instagram followers — wants people to advocate for themselves in a medical setting.
“If you think anything could be wrong, even a very small thing, just definitely get it checked out or push the doctors to check you out,” she said, while Lower added, “Don’t just think: ‘It’ll be fine, it won’t happen to me’, because we thought that.”
Greenwood previously opened up about her health scare via Instagram in November 2025, sharing a series of photos from her time in the hospital. In the upload, Greenwood explained that first responders initially thought she might be “drunk.”

“Hi friends ♥️,” Greenwood began via Instagram at the time. “What a crazy ol time it’s been! it’s been 5 months since my heart attack and a few months since my heart transplant. yes i have a lovely new heart i can’t believe it really. My head is still in a million different worlds filled with happiness, sadness, gratitude, grief, pain, inspiration and lots of love. everything feels a lot more special once you experience everything you know life to be about very nearly being taken away from you so suddenly.”
She continued, “Anyway heck of a ride I’m just so happy to be here & on the other side of it with my special borrowed heartbeat. i couldn’t of done it without all the support it’s been so so insane so thank you x100000 and of course having my wonderful guy @ailbhelower with me, truly the most precious man, you mean more to me than anything I could ever think or dream to experience i can’t wait to continue enjoying every moment we have together my love ♥️.”
