Upper Palmetto YMCA Rays’ Adrian Paredes Carrillo will join Division II Gannon University for this upcoming spring semester.

Paredes Carrillo hails from Fort Mill, S.C., and most recently competed at the NC YOTA 32nd Annual YOTA/Arena Capital meet earlier this month, there he set a pair of lifetime best times, including the 200 breaststroke in 2:05.94 and 200 IM in 1:55.12. A year earlier at the same meet, Paredes Carillo clocked his fastest ever 100 breast time in 58.02, 400 IM in 4:10.47, and 200 free in 1:46.86.
He opened up the calendar year at the SC Rays the Rock Classic in January. Paredes Carillo clocked his top times in both the 100 backstroke (52.84) and 200 back (1:59.12), and added a lifetime best in the 100 butterfly (50.84).
Paredes Carillo also holds notable best times of 1:52.99 in the 200 fly from the South Carolina Senior Championships in February, and 22.42 in the 50 free from that same meet.

Based on his best time, Paredes Carillo would have finished 8th in the 200 fly, 14th in the 200 IM, and 18th in the 100 breast at that meet.
Pareses Carillo has a wide range of event that her could swim on a championship level for Gannon. Most specifically the 100 fly, 200 breast, and 400 IM all could be potential events for whatever meet lineup Paredes Carrillo wants to compete in.
Comparing Paredes Carillo to this year’s Gannon roster through the halfway point in the season, he would rank 2nd in the 200 fly and 400 IM, 3rd in the 100 fly, 4th in the 200 breast and 200 IM, and 5th in the 100 breast.
