Alabama kicks off a College Football Playoff game in five days. Yet, the biggest buzz around the program as of late has been rumors that head coach Kalen DeBoer may decide to leave the program to coach Michigan after its head coach Sherrone Moore was fired last week.
The rumors can now be put to bed as DeBoer released a statement through Yea Alabama, solidifying the second-year coach’s place in Tuscaloosa.
“I have not spoken and have no interest in speaking with anyone else about any other job,” DeBoer said. “I am fully committed to this program and look forward to continuing as head football coach at the University of Alabama.”
UA athletic director Greg Byrne chimed in on social media by posting a statement regarding DeBoer’s status with the Crimson Tide.
“We are proud to have Coach DeBoer leading our football program at The University of Alabama,” Byrne said. “He is an incredible coach and does an excellent job with the development of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. Just as he is committed to this team, we are committed to him.”
DeBoer is 19-7 as the head coach at Alabama, after replacing former coach Nick Saban in January 2024.
Focus around the program can now be shifted to the ninth-seeded Crimson Tide’s CFP showdown against No. 8 Oklahoma on the road this Friday, which will be DeBoer’s first playoff appearance at Alabama.
“We look forward to taking the field Friday in the first round of the College Football Playoff,” Byrne said.
