ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Flower City Tattoo Convention kicked off Friday, marking its fourth year as one of the fastest-growing tattoo conventions in the Northeast.
The convention draws hundreds of tattoo artists from across the globe, featuring all kinds of styles, including American traditional, Japanese Irezumi, tribal tattoos, black and grey realism, and more. The convention was founded by Rob DPiazza, a tattoo artist and advocate for the craft.
Organizers said the event features an awards ceremony at the end of each day, highlighting the best work in multiple tattooing categories.
“Basically what we are trying to do is highlight all the many different styles of tattooing,” said DPiazza. “We want to highlight the different culture that is out here. It’s not a scary thing. It’s not a taboo thing anymore.”
More than 400 tattoo artists are participating in the convention, including stars from the hit show “Ink Master.”
The convention will run through Sunday from 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the Floreano Convention Center. To learn more, click here.
