Opta Analyst’s FCS football coverage includes weekly national player and team honors throughout the regular season and will lead toward the annual season-ending Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3, 2026 in Nashville, Tennessee.
Western Carolina’s Taron Dickens, Stephen F. Austin’s Jaydon Southard, Lamar’s Kyndon Fuselier and Tarleton State’s Tre Page III were selected on Monday as the Stats Perform FCS National Players of the Week for Week 6 college football games this past weekend.
In addition, the Brown Bears were named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.
The weekly honors lead up to the Stats Perform FCS National Awards Show on Jan. 3 in Nashville, Tennessee. The season-ending awards are in their 39th year.
The five honorees plus honorable mention selections for the FCS National Awards:
FCS National Offensive Player of the Week
Taron Dickens, Western Carolina, QB, R-So., 5-11, 180
Dickens shattered NCAA and FCS single-game records with 46 straight completions to begin Western Carolina’s 23-21 win at Wofford in the Southern Conference. He finished 53-for-56 for 378 yards and three touchdowns, with the 94.6 completion percentage also an FCS record for a quarterback with 30+ completions. Dating to the Catamounts’ Sept. 27 victory at Campbell, Dickens completed 50 straight pass attempts over the consecutive road games.

FCS National Defensive Player of the Week
Jaydon Southard, Stephen F. Austin, LB, Sr., 6-1, 225
Southard matched his career high with 16 tackles, including 12 solos, in Stephen F. Austin’s 31-17 win at UIW in the Southland Conference. Three of the tackles went for 19 yards in losses, including 1.5 sacks, and he also forced a fumble. Like his solo tackles, Southard’s TFL and sack totals were career-best efforts. He had never reached double-figure tackles before this season, but he’s done it four times for the Lumberjacks (4-2).

FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week
Kyndon Fuselier, Lamar, WR/PR, Sr., 5-11, 185
Fuselier hauled in a punt down the middle of the field, weaved between four tacklers and went straight back up the middle for an 88-yard punt return touchdown with 3:36 left – the winning margin as Lamar beat Nicholls 24-17 in the Southland Conference. He finished with 104 punt return yards to record the FCS high for a second consecutive week, and he had three receptions for 33 yards. Fuselier also scored on a punt return against Nicholls last season.

Tre Page III, Tarleton State, RB, R-Fr., 5-9, 180
Page carried the ball 19 times for a career-high 198 yards and two touchdowns as No. 3 Tarleton State remained unbeaten in a 52-42 slugfest over Southern Utah in the United Athletic Conference. He scored on 46- and 4-yard runs and averaged 10.4 yards per carry. He’s gone above 100 rushing yards three times while the Texans (6-0) have matched the longest winning streak of their Division I era (sixth season).

FCS National Team of the Week
Brown (28-21 win over then-No. 8 Rhode Island)
The Bears, picked last in the Ivy League’s preseason poll, ended a six-game losing streak against CAA Football preseason favorite Rhode Island while posting their first ranked win since 2009 (Holy Cross) and first Top 10 win since 1981 (URI). Coach James Perry’s 2-1 squad forced four turnovers, including defensive back Elias Archie with an interception, a forced fumble right outside the Brown goal line and a fumble recovery. James Murphy passed for two touchdowns and Matt Childs rushed for a pair.
