Some Chicago Bears injury news to share on a Saturday afternoon … and it isn’t pleasant.
Cornerback Jaylon Johnson and offensive lineman Kiran Amegadjie are going on injured reserve with their respective injuries. Johnson is going on IR with a groin injury after going down in the team’s Week 2 loss to the Detroit Lions. As for Amegadjie, he lands on IR just days after an elbow injury limited his participation in Wednesday’s practice and kept him out of action on Thursday and Friday.
News from ESPN’s Adam Schefter:
Bears placed CB Jaylon Johnson and OL Kiran Amegadjie on injured reserve and signed defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to their active roster.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) September 20, 2025In addition to the Bears putting Jaylon Johnson and Kiran Amegadjie on injured reserve, the team added defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to their active roster. Kpassagnon, who signed as a free agent during the summer, has appeared in both of the team’s games this season. He has 1 sack, 1 tackle-for-loss, and 2 quarterback hits while playing on 31 percent of the defensive snaps.
What’s next for the Bears now that Jaylon Johnson is on IR?
I’m not entirely sure what is next for the Bears with Jaylon Johnson going on injured reserve. The Bears have a handful of injured cornerbacks, with Jaylon Jones and Kyler Gordon dealing with hamstring injuries that will keep them from playing in Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. Chicago’s healthy cornerbacks (as of this deadline) are Tyrique Stevenson, Nahshon Wright, Dallis Flowers, Nick McCloud, and Josh Blackwell. That isn’t a collection of lockdown defensive backs, but it is all the Bears have at their disposal.
CHICAGO BEARS WEEK 3 INJURY REPORT
I wonder if this Jaylon Johnson groin injury is serious enough to keep him out for the rest of the season. There was a report from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, who had pegged Johnson as being out for the year. However, he left open the possibility of a late-season return if the Bears were in contention. A lot has to go right for Chicago’s football team in order for that to happen. Perhaps the team can start on that march with a win against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 3.
