Since The Mirror is Yearwood's first experience writing her own songs, she was inspired by her own life, making her newest tracks some of her most personal yet. And in a video that the country legend shared on her official TikTok account, she explained the story behind her song "Little Lady" about the expectations that women need to settle down as soon as they get married.

As it turns out, "Little Lady" actually ended up being about one of Yearwood's biggest pet peeves, but she didn't realize how much she couldn't stand the idea of women fading into the background after marriage until she started writing the song, especially while looking back on her engagement to husband Garth Brooks in 2005.
She didn't mind showing off her bling, but she did mind the comments people would make afterwards.
For the record, even though the song is very much inspired by Trisha's real life, there is no Pam — well, there is, but that's not her real name. "All the names have been changed to protect the guilty," Yearwood said.
The Mirror is Trisha Yearwood's Songwriting Debut
“Most of the really great things that have happened me in my career were not planned,” she said. “It was really something that clicked a couple of years ago. I started writing and it was really kind of therapeutic and really evolved naturally out of something I felt like I needed to do and I’m so happy with how it came out.”
