Riot Fest will end early on Saturday because of soaking storms that were expected to continue throughout the evening and overnight, festival organizers said.
The change in schedule was announced around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday
“In cooperation with our partners from the City of Chicago and out of abundance of caution for the safety of our fans, bands, and staff, Riot Fest will be ending early tonight due to inclement weather,” organizers said in a post on social media. “Please be safe and watch for more updates.”
Rounds of showers that started in the morning on Saturday were expected to be followed by more showers and storms in the afternoon, into the evening and through into early Sunday.
The festival, that was originally scheduled to end at 10 p.m., will instead end around 7:30 p.m.
Several acts previously scheduled for the latter half of the day were pushed up significantly, including headlining act Tool who starts 2 hours and 20 minutes earlier than previously scheduled, and Nas who is starting 2 hours and 40 minutes earlier.
Descendents, who were supposed to perform their full album, will now play a set that is 20 minutes shorter.
Tom Skilling, former longtime WGN meteorologist, and Afroman were two of a few acts booted from the lineup in the schedule change because of the stormy weather.

The schedule for Sunday is expected to remain the same, organizers said.
