CHARLOTTE (PINPOINT WEATHER) -- As we close out the week, we have to deal with one more day of heat and humidity before big changes arrive in the Carolinas this weekend and continue into early next week.

As for your Friday, more mugginess is again expected across the region with highs around 90 this afternoon, with 'feels-like' temperatures pushing up into the upper 90s.
This afternoon, showers and storms are expected to flare up, with isolated strong and severe storms possible before clearing out later for the evening.
Heading into the weekend, major changes are on the way for the Carolinas thanks to a cold front. Saturday will be mostly cloudy with a few scattered showers, along with much cooler temperatures as highs will struggle to make it out of the 80s. Sunday should be drier and less humid, making for a wonderful end to the weekend with highs that should stay in the mid-80s.

Moving into next week, cooler temperatures are expected to continue through the middle of next week with highs in the low to mid-80s. While Monday should be dry, rain chances will return starting Tuesday and continue through the middle of the week. In the meantime, get ready for some much cooler weather across the region!
