ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Red Wings have announced General Manager Dan Mason and former Red Wings outfielder Jason Kubel will be inducted into the Red Wings Hall of Fame.
On Friday, Aug. 15, and Saturday, Aug. 16, Kubel and Mason will be honored for their impact and all that they have done for the Red Wings.
Kubel played for the Red Wings during the 2004, 2006, and 2011 seasons. His performance in 2004 earned him the International League Rookie of the Year honor.
Kubel went on to play for the Minnesota Twins and Arizona Diamondbacks, compiling a career .262 batting average, 140 home runs, 187 doubles, and 564 RBIs across ten MLB seasons. He will be inducted into the hall of fame during a pregame ceremony on Aug. 15.
Mason, who has been the team’s general manager for 30 years, began working with the Red Wings in 1990 as an intern. He then was in roles such as director of group sales, promotions, and assistant general manager, before becoming the 12th general manager in franchise history in 1995.
During his time as general manager, the team has gotten numerous awards, one of them being the John H. Johnson President’s Award in 2004, which is the highest honor for minor league franchises.
Mason himself was also named International League Executive of the Year in 1996, 1997, and 2012. He will be indicted during a pregame ceremony on Aug. 16.
