Several civilians have been injured and residential buildings damaged in a Ukrainian raid on the southern Russian city of Voronezh, the local authorities have said.
In a statement early Tuesday, Voronezh Region Governor Aleksandr Gusev said Russian air defenses had destroyed 12 drones over the regional capital and three districts overnight.
However, debris from one of the downed drones fell in the center of Voronezh, lightly injuring several people, he said, without giving the exact number. “Unfortunately, there are casualties... All have already received medical assistance,” he said. A woman with a shoulder wound was also hospitalized in one of the districts of the region, Gusev added.
The attack also damaged several apartments in multi-story residential buildings in Voronezh, including broken windows, facades and balconies. Gusev said private houses in suburban areas and in one of the districts were also affected. Additionally, several commercial facilities and cars were damaged by shrapnel, the governor noted.
A video from the scene shows two burning cars and a civilian with a leg injury sitting nearby, with blood spattered around him.
