Before accepting the first-ever Artist Director Honors award, which recognizes those who push creative boundaries behind the camera, a video montage showing off several clips from the music videos she’s directed, as well as clips of her and the actors featured in her music videos talking about her creative process, played.
It included a very important scene from her first completely self-directed music video, “The Man,” which showed her first six albums, which, at the time, were owned by her original record label, Big Machine Records, spray-painted as graffiti on a subway wall.
However, in the clip featured in the montage, the space that featured her sixth album, reputation, was blank.
You know what they say — the superstar never does anything without intention, but this particular difference has fans wondering if her sixth album was removed from the clip on purpose, or if it was more of an error in the montage’s editing process, potentially pulling a behind-the-scenes clip rather than frames from the finalized music video.

One suggested that it “means her Reputation was returned to her, so TV [or ‘Taylor’s Version’] is incoming.” Swift, of course, began rerecording her first six albums in order to own her life’s work, but after she was finally able to purchase her masters, she admitted that she struggled to rerecord reputation, finding it to be already pretty close to perfect. She heavily implied that there never would be a Taylor’s Version of the original album, but didn’t write off the idea of releasing its vault tracks, or songs written for it that didn’t make the final cut.
Someone else thought that might be exactly what it meant, suggesting it was removed because “she won’t be re-recording it like she originally planned to.”
“I suspect to say it will never be a TV but may give a deluxe version when the anniversary comes,” another agreed.
Others suspected the clip chosen was simply a production grab that hadn’t had the spray paint added in yet.
“Probably because it’s cgi added in post production,” one suggested, while another emphasized, “guys that is a bts video, the reputation was probably added in post production ?.”
It seems odd, though, that only reputation would have been added in post, since her other albums are still splashed across the wall in the latest clip.
It seems most likely to be a hint toward something to come, rather than an oversight, but only time will tell!
