According to The New York Times, Damn Yankees had planned “an attention-getting announcement, with Harris, wearing a fiendishly smoke-emitting vest, throwing out the first pitch; Scott singing the national anthem; and Hough seductively dance-delivering a baseball to the pitcher’s mound.” Instead, the stars settled for a news conference due to the weather.
“I’ve done things that were more bespoke, and I’ve never ever done the big Broadway musical, with the big ensemble and big dance numbers, and I’ve always wanted to,” Harris said during the conference.
Harris continued, saying that “playing someone that’s devilish is always good — it’s always fun to be naughty.”
He also noted that this revival is a first in Broadway, Major League Baseball and MLB Studios history.
“This is the first time the MLB has been in partnership with a Broadway show,” Harris said. “It’s an exciting opportunity. … It’s the opportunity to get people who don’t normally go see theatre a reason to go.
This upcoming production marks the first Damn Yankees revival since 1994, and Harris’ first return to Broadway since 2025’s revival of Yasmina Reza’s Art at the Music Box Theatre. Tickets are on sale now, with shows spanning from March 24, 2027, until Nov. 21.
