Caitlin Clark is set to smash her own record for the most expensive women’s sports card ever.

On March 29, her autograph Prizm rookie card sold in a Goldin auction for a massive $366,000 — $100,000 more than Serena Williams‘ previous mark from 2022.

That is set to be dwarfed again when Clark’s 2024 Panini WNBA Rookie Royalty Flawless patch autographed rookie card is auctioned on Thursday.

Her unique Immaculate edition from the same set is also going under the hammer on Friday.

The Rookie Royalty offerings are autographed directly onto the card, whereas the Prizm version featured an autographed sticker, making them worth far more to investors.

The Flawless and Immaculate designs also feature a WNBA ‘Logowoman’ patch that is on Indiana Fever jerseys.

Clark inscribed ‘769 pts and counting’ on the Flawless version — the number she scored in a Rookie of the Year campaign.

“The story is really about women’s cards in the hobby. It’s just remarkable, the path of this,” Kevin Lenane, Fanatics Collect’s vice president of marketplace, told The Athletic.

“It’s without a doubt, the No. 1 card she has. Given that this (gold) vinyl sticker Prizm sold for $366,000, I am positive it will sell for more. How much? I don’t know. I would think it’s pretty hefty.

“And so it’ll just be a big moment for women in the hobby and women’s cards featuring women in the hobby. The trajectory of that has really been just buoyed by Caitlin Clark, to be frank.”

After avoiding injury throughout her college career and rookie season, Clark has missed 10 games this season across two spells on the sidelines.

She returned Wednesday from a groin issue and scored 10 points, going 4 of 12 from the field in a blowout loss to the Golden State Valkyries.

Clark played 25 minutes as the Fever ramp up her return.

Her rookie cards will sell for more than the four-year, $338,000 deal she signed after being selected with the No.1 pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft.

The phenom has lucrative endorsement deals to fall back on, including a $28 million agreement with Nike, but many of her colleagues cannot command anything like those fees.

That has caught the eye of Ilona Maher — a female Team USA rugby player who captured the country’s attention at Paris 2024.

“I actually think I know. It’s like $75,000, even though she brings in like $36 million to her city,” she said on her House of Maher podcast about Clark’s annual salary.

“I mean, [Caitlin] is the same as me. We don’t make much money from our sport.

“I think what’s crazy is that… They’re selling out stadiums, they’re getting the fans in, she’s bringing in so much money, and because of the salary cap, she’s only making $78,000. That’s crazy, and she definitely deserves more.”

Clark missed out on a chance to join Maher in France after being left out of Cheryl Reeve’s squad for the Games.

Reeve was set to coach Team Clark in the upcoming WNBA All-Star Game but Clark rewrote the rulebook to trade for Sandy Brondello, who had been assigned to Napheesa Collier’s rival roster.

“I don’t know if this is in the rules,” Clark said with a smirk. “I don’t really care.

“But I think we have already discussed that we are going to trade coaches. Phee [Napheesa] is going to take her coach. Sandy Brondello, let’s get it. It’s going to be amazing “

“Sorry WNBA if that’s not in the rules. Sorry ESPN if that’s not in the rules. But we’ve just made it a rule.

“So Sandy Brondello, come on over. Let’s get to it. You can coach Sabrina [Ionescu].”

WNBA players are looking to increase their max salaries from $250,000 to around $1 million in ongoing Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) negotiations.

The talks have seen many superstars stay in college for an extra season or take short-term deals.
