On Saturday, April 25, 2026, the 250 Buckeye Train, a vintage railcar, will depart from Columbus on a four-hour trip along the historic Panhandle Pennsylvania Railroad line to Dennison, Ohio. While in town, passengers will enjoy the Transportation Celebration at the depot, a National Historic Landmark for its role in World War II, during a three-hour layover, before returning to the Capital City.

The journey will be repeated on Sunday, April 26, 2026, this time from Newark with a stop in Coshocton, before arriving in Dennison for the second day of festivities at the depot.

During WWII, Dennison was nicknamed “Dreamsville USA” by soldiers passing through. Its train depot gained renown as a canteen, serving over 1.3 million servicemen.

Attendees of the Transportation Celebration, a free public event, will experience 1940s music, authentic WWII vehicles, a USO-style show and costumed reenactors to immerse visitors in the era. Additionally, a 250 Car Show will display 250 automobiles from various eras, flyovers will be performed by vintage planes and an Age of Steam locomotive will be on display.

“The story of American transportation wouldn’t be complete without sharing Ohio’s contribution,” said Todd Kleismit, executive director of America 250-Ohio. “As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the 250 Buckeye Train and associated Transportation Celebration is the perfect vehicle for showcasing Ohio’s impact on how Americans have moved across the country, throughout history, as well as in the present.”

Tickets for the 250 Buckeye Train are on sale now through the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum. Coach seats start at $150 per person on April 25 and $135 per person on April 26. First Class and Deluxe upgrades are available.

Organizers noted that the 250 Buckeye Train was inspired by the American Bicentennial Freedom Train, an immersive rail experience that blends vintage charm, patriotic storytelling, and historic reenactments to mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.

“We look forward to having you all aboard the 250 Buckeye Train as it rolls forward, carrying stories, dreams, and a celebration of the history that connects us all as Ohioans and as Americans,” Kleismit said.
