The Indiana Fever have been looking for answers.

A lot is going on for the Fever, as superstar Caitlin Clark re-injured herself and veteran DeWanna Bonner left the team for good.

Clark has only appeared in nine games this seasonGetty

Clark recently returned from a left quad injury that saw her miss five games, but is now going back to the bench having suffered a groin injury during the Fever’s 94-86 victory over the Seattle Storm.

However, head coach Stephanie White is optimistic that she won’t miss as much time as she did earlier this season.

“It’s very much a day-to-day thing, how she responds to treatment. I stay in my lane and let our strength and conditioning staff… do what they do best,” White said via Chloe Peterson of The Indianapolis Star.

“They took her down yesterday for the MRI. I’m not exactly sure (when she reported the injury). I didn’t hear about it until I heard about it from the training staff last night.”

Clark has been ruled out for Thursday night’s game against the Los Angeles Sparks.

During the five games Clark missed, the Fever went 2-3, and are currently 7-7 overall on the year.

She has only appeared in nine games, averaging 18.2 points on 39 per cent shooting, including 29.5 per cent from 3, 8.9 assists and 5.6 rebounds per game.

While she has remained steady when on the court, Clark has recently struggled from deep.

She is just 1-23 from the 3-point line in her last three games, with the Fever going 1-2.

As Clark goes, so does the Fever.

While Clark’s absence looks to be short this time around, the Fever now know they will be without Bonner going forward.

Indiana officially waived the veteran two-time WNBA champion, who no longer wanted to be on the Fever.

Bonner released a statement following her release, which read: “I want to sincerely thank the Indiana Fever for the opportunity to be part of the Fever franchise.

“Despite our shared goals and excitement heading into the season, I felt the fit did not work out, and I appreciate the organization’s willingness to grant my request to move on, particularly at this point in my career.

“I wish the Fever great success as they continue to build around this dynamic group of young players.”

The 37-year-old initially signed a one-year, $200,000 deal to play in Indiana last offseason.

She became the WNBA’s third all-time leading scorer in her Fever debut, but it quickly went downhill from there.

Bonner was benched in favor of Lexie Hull three games into the season, which was the tipping point for the veteran.

Bonner reportedly had ‘no interest’ in playing for the Fever after that and voluntarily left the team for personal reasons.

She was then granted her release.

Bonner took to her Instagram to address the ‘quitter’ accusations that have been thrown her way.

“A QUITTER!! Nah never been that!!” Bonner wrote on the social media platform.

“But when the time comes… Let’s just make sure the apologies are just as loud as the disrespect!!” IN DUE TIME. DB.”

Caitlin Clark superfan Dave Portnoy had a blunt message for Bonner during her time away.

“Great career. She was beyond useless for Fever. Wish her best of luck,” Portnoy wrote on X.

Bonner is now gone, and Clark is currently out, as the Fever look to get their season back on track and above .500 for the first time in almost two weeks.
