The first installment of the Chicago Bears injury report before their Week 18 game against the Detroit Lions is out. And while it was just a walk-through, there is some stuff to discuss. Most notably, status updates regarding two of their top receivers.
Rome Odunze (foot) would not have participated in Wednesday’s practice had the team done more than conduct a walk-through. Odunze hasn’t played since the team won its Black Friday game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson came off as optimistic last week when answering a question about Odunze’s status. And yet, the second-year receiver remains on the Bears injury report.
Also on the Bears injury report is Luther Burden III. The rookie receiver was listed as a limited participant because of a quad injury. That feels encouraging, especially when you consider that we last saw Burden on the ground at Levi’s Stadium looking to be in pain. I will feel better about Burden’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Lions if he can string together a pair of full participation practices.
Let’s keep tabs on left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, who was listed as limited with a knee/quad issue. Hopefully, this isn’t a big deal.
