Arizona State defensive back Kyndrich Breedlove and Duke tight end Landen King were both ejected at separate moments late in the first half of the Sun Bowl on Wednesday, and emotions started boiling over with an altercation.
The tempers started to flare up when the players were engaged with each other during a Duke run play, both appearing to have hands in the other’s face. It continued as King kept up the physicality after the play was over.

The two bumped helmets in the aftermath of the play, with Breedlove getting his first unsportsmanlike conduct penalty of the game.
Four plays later, Duke found the end zone and replay showed King with ASU defensive lineman Justin Wodtly after the touchdown before officials ejected him for spitting, a flagrant unsportsmanlike penalty.

That left 1:50 in the first half, enough time for ASU to set up a 54-yard field goal by Jesus Gomez, tied for the third longest in program history.
Duke was driving with a chance to add another score before halftime when redshirt freshman Tony-Louis Nkuba intercepted Duke’s Darian Mensah with two seconds left.
Breedlove was then called for his second unsportsmanlike while celebrating the interception, earning an ejection and an early end to his college career. King, a graduate student, also saw his college career ended by his ejection.
It was quite the way for both teams to wrap up the highest-scoring half in Sun Bowl history at 52 points combined with ASU trailing 28-24, after two rushing scores by Jeff Sims and a 44-yard catch for Jalen Moss’ first ASU score.
