BROCKPORT, N.Y. – The Erie Canal may be 200 years old this year, but it is still celebrating new additions!
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for a new pedestrian bridge over the canal on Holley Street in Brockport Friday.
The president of SUNY Brockport, Heidi Macpherson, says it will help connect students to the Village of Brockport and recreation on the canal.
“We are the only SUNY on the Erie Canal. And we really want to make sure that we take part in everything that happens on the Erie Canal,” the president said. “And having a bridge across it is making it a lot easier for our students to be connected to the village, make sure that they have many opportunities to have fun, with kayaking and with rowing.”
