Rebecca Rosen will speak on “Falconry and Birds of Prey” for the Peregrine Audubon Society on Tuesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. in the Ukiah City Council Chambers.
Falconry is an ancient form of hunting that uses hawks, falcons, eagles, or owls to catch prey. Rosen, a professional falconer, will show how she uses falcons and other raptors to help vintners protect their crops from flocks of invasive birds. She will explain the important role that birds of prey play in our ecosystems and introduce the audience to three of her raptors – a Harris’ Hawk, a Barbary Falcon, and a Spectacled Owl.
