In a thrilling match that had fans on the edge of their seats, Inter Miami stormed back to secure a 3-2 victory over CF Montreal. The game started off with Montreal taking an early lead, but Miami quickly responded with a goal of their own to level the score. However, Montreal regained the lead before halftime, leaving Miami trailing by one goal.
But in the second half, Inter Miami showed incredible determination and resilience as they fought back to score two goals in quick succession. Their attacking prowess and defensive solidity allowed them to take control of the game and ultimately secure a well-deserved victory.
Inter Miami's other stars stepped up to help lead the Herons to a 3-2 comeback victory over CF Montreal on Saturday night at Stade Saputo in Montreal, Quebec. Matias Rojas scored an incredible free-kick goal and Luis Suarez poked home a corner kick to tie the game late in the first half.
The six goal contributions, five assists and five assists in a half were all MLS records.
Messi, who earned the MLS Player of the Month Award for April, has now scored and assisted in six consecutive league matches.
“It has become redundant but it appears that he is always making history,” Inter Miami coach Gerardo “Tata” Martino said. “If something was missing, it was this — to contribute in six goals.”
FC Barcelona stars Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets joined him in the starting lineup.
Matias Rojas produced a goal and an assist, and Benjamin Cremaschi scored the winner in the 59th minute as league-leading Miami (8-2-3) won its fifth straight game.
Messi Mania, however, came and went in Montreal without a goal or assist from the man himself despite his scorching-hot form.
The go-ahead goal came when Rojas sent a ball into open space and Cremaschi ran it down — then made a second effort to nudge the ball just clear of two defenders and into the net for a 3-2 lead. Messi had two chances in the final minutes to extend the lead, both narrowly missing.
Hundreds of fans greeted Inter Miami when the team arrived at its hotel Friday night and Montreal, in part because of Messi joining Major League Soccer last summer, sold out its 15,000 season tickets for the first time since the club joined MLS in 2012. Messi has scored in 31 countries.
In the end, it was Inter Miami who emerged victorious, scoring a late goal to secure the win. The players showed great skill and determination on the field, making for an entertaining game for all who watched.
Overall, this match between Inter Miami and Montreal will be remembered as a classic showdown between two talented teams giving their all on the field.
