August 3-7, 2026 Irvine, CA LCM (50 Meters) Meet Central Psych Sheets Live Results Live Stream Live Recaps Prelims: Day 1 Finals: Day 1The 1st day of the 2026 U.S. Summer Junior National Championships is in the book. As opposed to the regular live recaps we do, this post is dedicated to those swims that may have have gone unreported, or otherwise flew under the radar today.
We’ll start with North Baltimore Aquatic Club 17-year-old Daniel Branon, who came in 3rd in the boys 200 fly tonight. Branon popped a 1:59.92, breaking 2:00 for the first time in his career. He swam an aggressive race, splitting 26.73 on the 1st 50, then clocking a 30.28, before coming home in 31.14 and 31.77 respectively. With the swim, Branon becomes the 61st 17-year-old ever to break 2:00 in the event.
Fishers Area Swimming Tigers’ Grace Gannon, just 13 years old, had a stellar day in the girls 200 fly. Coming in as the 34th seed in the event with a personal best of 2:17.44, Gannon had a great morning swim, clocking in at 2:16.49, which was good for 10th and an appearance in the ‘B’ final. The youngster made the most of the opportunity, lowering her mark once again tonight with a 2:15.35. She slid back a place, finishing 11th overall, however, she took more than a second off her PB from the morning in the process. Gannon is now ranked #13 all-time for 13-year-old girls in the event.
Waterloo Swimming’s Julian Rusk, 17, was flying on the anchor leg of the Waterloo boys 200 free relay tonight. Rusk brought his team home in a blistering 22.46, which is more than a second faster than his official best time of 23.51. Moreover, Rusk’s swim was the 2nd-fastest in the entire field, behind only Santa Clara Swim Club’s Isaac Litwiller, who anchored his team to victory in 22.44.
Bellevue Club Swim Team’s Sutton Forbis, 17, was absolutely moving on her relay as well. BC came in 2nd, but Sutton had the fastest split in the field, throwing down an impressive 25.08 on the 2nd leg of the relay. She did it with a 0.42 reaction time as well, which is a fine RT, but could have been a little tighter, certainly enough so to bring that split under 25 seconds. It was a huge swim for Forbis, who is entered with a 25.92 in the 50 free later in the meet.
Streamline Aquatics 18-year-old Tessa Christiansen had a fantastic morning swim in the girls 200 fly today. Christiansen came in with a career best of 2:20.32, and was the 69th seed coming into the day. She improved upon that time by nearly 3 seconds this morning, swimming a 2:17.55, which was good for 16th.
