To the Editor: The For the People Act (H.R. 1) recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives, [with the full support of Representative Jared Huffman. It was introduced in the Senate on March 17 as S. 1. The Act would expand and improve voter access to the polls, promote voting integrity (e.g., restore the Voting Rights Act sections invalidated by the Supreme Court and end gerrymandering), require disclosure of dark money political contributions, and strengthen oversight of campaign finance laws, ethics laws, and their enforcement.
