Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Eastern Interscholastic Swimming Championship bronze medalist Borry Jiang has announced his verbal commitment to swim and study at Johns Hopkins University beginning in the fall of 2027. He publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:

I’m incredibly honored and excited to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process and continue my academic and athletic career at Brown University. I would like to thank my family, friends, and teammates for all of their love and support throughout the years. I would also like to thank Coach Bruce, Coach JP and the many other coaches who have supported me throughout my swimming journey so far. Finally, I would like to give a special thank you to Coach Mitch, Coach Lauren and the entire coaching staff at Brown for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am so excited for this next chapter – GO BRUNO!!

A junior at Mercersburg Academy in Mercersburg, Pennsylvania, Jiang has been a member of his school’s varsity swimming team since his freshman year. He also trains year-round with the school’s affiliated club team, where he primarily specializes in sprint freestyle and butterfly.

Jiang is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw him drop about a second in both the 100 free and 100 fly and just under half a second in the 50 free. On the high school scene, Jiang helped Mercersburg to runner-up in the 200 medley relay (21.58 fly split) and fourth in the 200 free relay (20.50 anchor split) in addition to taking third in the 100 fly (49.15) and seventh in the 100 free (45.81), with his times in both events his current lifetime bests. He clocked his current career best of 20.73 in the 50 free at the Mercersburg Academy Time Trial a few days after the State meet.

Johns Hopkins joined the NCAA Division III’s Centennial Conference last year, and the men won their inaugural conference title before sending 11 athletes to the NCAA Division III Championships, where the team placed ninth. Based on the results from the 2026 conference meet, Jiang’s career bests in the 50 free, 100 free, and 100 fly would each have placed seventh in the ‘A’ final, positioning him to contribute immediately, both individually and on the sprint relays.

For reference, qualifying for the 2026 NCAA Division III Championships required times of 20.05, 44.33, and 48.02 in those events, marks Jiang will likely have his eyes on over the next few seasons.

Jiang is currently set to be joined in Baltimore in the fall by Alex Wood, Thomas Lathrop and Sam Gao, all of whom should make for strong training partners over their four years together.
