Several Lions players and coaches arrived at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on Sunday, November 8, wearing Campbell’s No. 46 jersey ahead of the team’s matchup against the Miami Dolphins. The pregame tribute came one week after the linebacker suffered a frightening injury during Detroit’s win over the Minnesota Vikings.
Among those wearing Campbell’s jersey were linebackers Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez, Joe Bachie, K.J. Britt, Trevor Nowaske and Amen Ogbongbemiga, as well as defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard and linebackers coach Shaun Dion Hamilton.
The Lions shared photos of the gesture on social media alongside a simple message: “For 46.”

Campbell, a team captain, was injured during the fourth quarter of Detroit’s 19-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Nov. 1. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and has remained hospitalized as he recovers.
In a statement released by the team on November 4, Campbell offered an encouraging update on his condition.
“I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body,” he said. “I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.”
The Lions placed Campbell on injured reserve on Nov. 7, meaning he will miss at least the next four games and his recovery timeline has not been made public
Head coach Dan Campbell previously praised the linebacker for the respect he has earned throughout the organization.
“You get voted captain, that means a ton,” Campbell said earlier this week. “He earned every bit of that. He’s trustworthy, he’s dependable, he’d give you the shirt off his back. He’s all heart, all effort, and an unbelievable person.”
