Thank you!The ASUS Zenbook 14 combines a slim design, vibrant 14-inch display, and Snapdragon X performance to deliver a capable everyday laptop for work, entertainment, and productivity on the go.
If you’re looking for a laptop that can handle your everyday workload without slowing you down or, even worse, weighing down your bag, then the ASUS Zenbook 14 may just be worth a look. This is a slim, lightweight Windows laptop designed for everyday workloads. Try not to let its compact size fool you. With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X processor, a crisp, colorful display, and a comfortable keyboard, this may just be the everyday carry computer you didn’t know was out there. Let’s dive in and see what it’s all about.
Design & Portability.
The first thing I noticed about the Zenbook 14 is how compact and lightweight it is. At about 12.25”x8.5”, it’s large enough to be a practical everyday computer without the weight that comes with having a bigger screen.
ASUS has given it a clean, modern design that looks right at home in any office, at a coffee shop, or just sitting on a desk at home. It’s not trying to look like a gaming laptop, and even though I am a sucker for some RGB lighting, I actually appreciate the clean, simple look. Sometimes you just want a computer that looks professional without having a bunch of unnecessary styling or flashy accents, sweet and simple, and looks great no matter who’s using it.
Another nice touch that the team at ASUS did was give it a special coating that is designed to help resist scratching and keep the laptop looking good as new. It has a matte appearance, and you can feel a slight abrasion in the coating that just kind of says I’m stronger than paint. And maybe my day job as an epoxy floor coater has helped me distinguish that feeling, but I swear I can feel it haha.
Whether you’re taking it to the office, working from home, or throwing it in a bag before heading to school, it’s the kind of laptop that doesn’t demand much room. One thing I appreciate most about its size is that I can easily use it on my lap in the work truck on the way to the next job. Now you might ask what it is I’m losing out on by having a compact laptop. You’re not getting the same number of ports or the same cooling capacity you might find on a larger one, but for a machine designed around everyday use, I think they packed it as full as they could with the necessary hardware.
Display.
The display is one of my favorite things about the Zenbook 14. The colors look fantastic, everything appears crisp and precise, and I haven’t noticed any lag during my normal use, and that’s probably on the heavier side compared to most of you guys out here that are using it. Whether I’m writing reviews, researching products, watching videos, or moving between different windows, the screen has been a pleasure to work with.
When you’re spending hours in front of a computer, the display quality matters more than you might think. A sharp image and vibrant colors make everything from reading articles to watching TV more enjoyable, and of course, for those that want to do some photo editing, having a crisp and colorful display matters. I’m constantly looking at product information, comparing specifications, checking websites, and writing. I want my text to look clean and easy to read, and I want all the images and videos to look good without having to constantly adjust settings.
Performance.
This is where the Zenbook 14 has really impressed me, especially for its size.
The one I have uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X X1 26 100 processor, featuring an eight-core Oryon CPU running at 2.96 GHz. It also has integrated Qualcomm Adreno X1-45 graphics and 8GB of RAM.
Now, 8GB of RAM might not sound particularly impressive on paper, especially when so many computers are being advertised with 16GB or more. However, I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how well this has handled my daily tasks. I’m regularly streaming TV shows on Netflix or YouTube while working, keeping multiple browser tabs open for research and fact-checking, writing reviews across connected monitors, and jumping between different applications throughout the night. I can easily have 15–20 tabs open while working, on top of everything else I have running, and the laptop has been very fast and responsive.
Compared to my older Intel iMac, the difference was remarkably noticeable. The Zenbook feels much quicker and smoother during my everyday work, and I haven’t felt like I need to simplify my workflow just to keep the computer running smoothly anymore, which was a compromise I was willing to make but am glad I haven’t had to do.
Memory & Storage.
My Zenbook 14 comes with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. I only have access to about 235GB; the capacity is also occupied by Windows and the software installed on the computer.
For my current workflow, the storage has been more than sufficient. The cloud is where I store most of my information anyways. I’m primarily using the laptop for writing, research, browser-based work, streaming, and everyday applications rather than storing enormous video projects or video game data.
Keyboard & Touchpad.
I’m used to working with a larger, gaming-style keyboard, so moving to the Zenbook’s slimmer laptop keyboard took a little getting used to. The layout and feel are different from what I’m accustomed to, but I’ve grown to like it. The keys feel smooth and very responsive, and typing is comfortable enough for the kind of work I’ll be using it for.
The touchpad gives you that built-in navigation you’d expect from a modern Windows laptop, something I’m not completely used to. From primarily using a desktop, I’m not going to lie, I was a little intimidated by the touchpad. I thought it would slow me down or be something that I couldn’t get used to, but I am happy to admit that it was all for nothing. Everything is just so smooth and responsive.
Connectivity & Multiple Monitors.
One of the things I appreciate about a laptop is being able to use it as a portable computer when I need to, then connect it to my at-home setup when I’m ready to get to work. The Zenbook 14 fits that nicely. I use multiple monitors while writing reviews, which gives me more room to work with product pages, reference material, research, and my actual writing at the same time. Let’s not forget about my need to always have something to watch on haha.
The Zenbook’s USB-C connectivity helps make a desktop-style setup possible, although the exact connection method depends on your monitor, cables, and any dock or adapter you use, but in the event that you have an older device, you also have a USB-A and HDMI port as well.
Battery & Charging.
ASUS has claimed battery life for up to 32 hours. Fortunately, I haven’t had the laptop run out of power on me yet, but I’m also pretty good about plugging my electronics in at the end of the night, so I’m not regularly pushing the battery to its limits. However, I certainly haven’t noticed any quick battery loss.
Windows & Everyday Usability.
One feature I particularly appreciate is the ability to set up separate Windows profiles for different members of the family. I’ve set up profiles for my wife and daughter, so everyone can sign in and have their own information and settings ready to go.
That means I can use the laptop for my work, while they can sign in to their own accounts without having to share my desktop, browser sessions, or personal settings. It’s a small thing that isn’t new by any means, but it’s genuinely useful in a household where more than one person uses the same computer.
Instead of constantly rearranging settings or worrying about everyone sharing the same environment, each person can have their own space. Windows makes this kind of arrangement relatively straightforward, and it gives the Zenbook a little more versatility than a computer that’s used exclusively by one person. Of course, separate profiles aren’t unique to ASUS, but they’re a good example of how a laptop can fit into everyday family life as well as work.
For me, that’s part of what makes this machine appealing. It handles my work during the day and the night, fitting all my needs, and there’s nothing stopping the rest of the family from using it when they need to without disrupting my work.
One thing potential buyers should understand is that this Zenbook uses an ARM-based processor rather than the traditional Intel or AMD processors found in most Windows laptops.
That doesn’t mean it can’t run Windows applications. Many popular applications are available in ARM versions, while Windows can run many traditional x86 and x64 applications through its compatibility technology.
For everyday tasks such as browsing, writing, streaming, and working with common productivity applications, I haven’t come across anything that I wasn’t able to use.
However, compatibility is something to check if you depend on specialized software, older utilities, particular device drivers, or anything that requires specific software support.
I would also check the compatibility of any professional applications you absolutely need before buying a Snapdragon-powered laptop. Better to be safe than sorry, being that not all Windows computers are the same.
For my general productivity workflow, the processor has been fast and responsive, and the change from my older Intel iMac has been a night and day difference.

Conclusion.
The ASUS Zenbook 14 has been a pleasant surprise. Coming from an older Intel MacBook, I immediately noticed how responsive it feels during my everyday work. Through all of that, the laptop has been fast enough to let me concentrate on the work rather than worry about what the computer is doing.
The display is another selling point for me, with crisp details and vibrant colors that make working and watching content even more enjoyable. The keyboard took a little getting used to because I’m accustomed to a larger gaming-style keyboard, but I’ve grown to appreciate its smooth feel and more refined design that fit perfectly with even my larger hands.
I also like that this isn’t just a heavy work-oriented machine. I’ve set up separate profiles for my wife and daughter, allowing everyone to sign in and have their own information ready to go. It’s a simple feature that most Windows computers have, but it makes the laptop more useful for the whole household.
The 8GB of RAM is worth considering before buying, particularly if you plan on running demanding applications or keeping a large number of programs open. They have a 16GB option, so make sure to weigh those two choices and see what fits your needs more.
But for my everyday needs, the Zenbook 14 has been doing exactly what I want it to do. It’s quick, comfortable to use, easy to work with across multiple monitors, and versatile enough to serve as both my work computer and a shared family laptop.
