Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Elleigh Wise, a finalist at the 2024 Canadian Olympic Trials, has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Alabama beginning in the fall of 2028.

“I chose the University of Alabama because of the connection I felt with the coaches and the team. From the moment I visited, I felt welcomed and could really see myself being part of the Crimson Tide family. I loved the team atmosphere, the amazing facilities, and the opportunity to continue developing as a swimmer while competing in the SEC. I’m so excited for this next chapter and can’t wait to call Alabama home. Roll Tide!”

A junior at Bishop Carroll High School in Calgary, Wise currently trains year-round with Cascade Swim Club and primarily specializes in mid-distance and distance free, including in the open water events.

Wise turned in a series of top performances at the 2025 Ontario Junior International (SCM) competition in December, earning a second swim in three events and logging a personal best time in six events. She placed 6th in the 1500 free (16:46.82) and 100 free (55.98), 9th in the 800 free (8:49.82), 11th in the 200 free (2:00.63), 13th in the 50 free (26.32) and 21st in the 400 free (4:26.13), setting a lifetime best in each.

At the 2026 Junior Pan Pacific Championships (LCM) in August, Wise clocked a string of fast swims. She took 5th in the 400 free (4:14.77 – PB), 6th in the 200 free (2:02.62 – PB) and 10th in the 800 free (8:54.39 – PB). She also set another best time in the 200 free (2:01.25) as the leadoff on the 800 free relay.

Wise competed at the 2024 Canadian Swimming Trials (LCM) when she was just 14 years old, earning a second swim in one event. She placed 10th in the 1500 free (17:28.11) and 18th in the 400 free (4:26.47), posting then-best times in both events. She also contested the 50 free (27.31), 100 free (58.99) and 200 free (2:09.23).

Wise is also a three-time national age group champion, winning the girls’ 13-14 age group in the 800 free, 1500 free and 1500 open water at the 2024 Canadian Championships (LCM).

    Best Times LCM (SCY Conversion):

    100 free – 57.87 (50.69) 200 free – 2:01.25 (1:46.35) 400 free – 4:14.77 (4:45.45) 800 free – 8:54.39 (9:58.75) 1500 free – 17:00.59 (16:40.57)

A Division I program in the Southeastern Conference, Alabama’s women’s team took 4th-place at last season’s conference championships before sending six athletes to compete at the NCAA Division I Championships in March, where they finished 11th overall. Based on the results from the 2026 SEC Championships, Wise’s converted times would have landed her in the ‘C’ final in the 200 free and 500 free, and she would have placed 22nd in the 1650 free, giving her a chance to score some points early on.

With almost two full seasons to go, it remains to be seen how the rosters will shake out, but Wise looks to be in a position to be a strong contributor for Alabama when she joins the team.

Wise is currently set to be joined in Tuscaloosa by Brenley Bonez, Paige Kowal and Claire Burns, who should all make for strong training partners over their four years together.
