One of America’s most popular and longest-running rock bands is coming to the Hollywood Bowl for a celebration to put an exclamation mark on their legendary career.
Billed as California Dream On: Aerosmith & Friends, the shows set for Oct. 29 and Nov. 1, will feature the Bad Boys from Boston along with an all-star cast including Guns N’ Roses, the Black Crowes, Run-DMC, Heart, producer Andrew Watt, Billy Idol and his longtime guitarist Steve Stevens, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, Eric Church, Jerry Cantrell and Mike Inez of Alice In Chains, Marcus King, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, Pat Monahan of Train, Sammy Hagar, Sully Erna of Godsmack, Tom Morello, Adam Wakeman, Audley Freed, Don Was, Kenny Aronoff and more.

The show will mark Aerosmith’s first performance in more than three years. On Sept. 9, 2023, the band was forced to cancel their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour when singer Steven Tyler suffered a fractured larynx and damaged his vocal cords. Shortly after, the band announced it was retiring from touring.
Since then, Tyler has made occasional appearances, but Aerosmith hasn’t performed together publicly.
We’re not exactly sure how these shows came together, but we think one event may have planted the seed.
On July 5, 2025, Tyler fronted an all-star supergroup at the Back to the Beginning Black Sabbath/Ozzy Osbourne farewell extravaganza. Several of the musicians who backed him at that gig—Morello, Bettencourt, Watt and Smith—will be on hand for Aerosmith’s big two-gig celebration.
Our hunch is that Tyler saw how much love Ozzy and Sabbath received at that gig and thought to himself, “What about us?”
Also, Aerosmith may be from Boston, but the band and its members have had some epic moments in the past at the Hollywood Bowl that we were lucky enough to witness.
5. Aug. 6, 2012 – Aerosmith appeared at the Bowl for the second time after their 2006 debut at the historic venue. This time they brought along their friends Cheap Trick to open the show and some special guests. Aerosmith was introduced by comics icon Stan Lee, first in a video intro and then in the flesh. He introduced them as “the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band on this planet — or any planet” and the band lived up to the hype with a hit-laden set sprinkled with deep tracks. For the final encore, the band wheeled out their classic cover of “The Train Kept a-Rollin’,” with Joe Perry’s Hollywood Vampires bandmate Johnny Depp joining on guitar.
4. Sept. 17, 2025
Fast-forward more than a decade later, with Aerosmith on a not-so-permanent vacation, Perry reassembled his on-and-off also solo band the Joe Perry Project and the band landed dates opening for the Who.
Perry’s band featured Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes on vocals, Aerosmith’s Brad Whitford on guitar, Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots on bass, Aerosmith/Hollywood Vampires keyboardist Buck Johnson, and drummer Jason Sutter. From the start of the set, they threatened to upstage the Who on their farewell tour, opening with Perry’s theme song, “Let the Music Do the Talking,” first recorded by the Joe Perry Project and later covered by Aerosmith. Later in the set, Robinson matter-of-factly proclaimed, “We’re the Joe Perry Project and we play rock ‘n’ roll!”
3. During the same set, as if there wasn’t enough guitar firepower onstage with the Perry-Whitford combo, Guns N’ Roses axe-slinger Slash joined the band on a rendition of the Aerosmith deep track “Mama Kin” from the band’s 1973 self-titled debut.
2. While this was clearly Perry’s band, he was generous to share the spotlight with his longtime Toxic Twin brother Tyler, who proved he was back in the saddle with a spirited version of “Walk This Way.”
1. Like most Aerosmith-related shows, the set isn’t complete until the band hops on their classic cover of “The Train Kept a-Rollin’.” This version featured Robinson and Tyler once again handling the vocals and laid the tracks down for Aerosmith’s full reunion.
