If you own a phone or television, you’ve no doubt seen your fair share of the Caleb Williams love pouring in locally and nationally after the Bears’ Thursday night win over the Patriots. Williams followed up an NFC Player of the Week performance in Atlanta with another 300-yard game, and some passes only he and a few others in football can make. The third-year quarterback is dialed in since returning from his hamstring injury, and this feels like the moment he goes from could-be to actual superstar quarterback in the league.

When asked about Williams’ current state of play, Bears head coach Ben Johnson pointed to Williams’ mindset. “I love where he is, mindset-wise right now,” Johnson said. “No one is more critical of himself than he is at this point.” Johnson complimented Williams’ constant desire to search for what he left out on the field, even after stringing together two of the best performances of his career. “As good as he’s done taking care of the football and the higher completion percentage and all those things; there was a lot more to be had last week, and he’s the first one to say it,” Johnson said. Caleb being locked in mentally and physically right now is terrific, because Chicago will need another eye-popping performance from him on Monday in Seattle. Over the last two weeks, Hardy has logged eight pressures, four quarterback hits, 1.5 sacks, and a pass defensed. “I think he’s done as good a job as anybody affecting the passer these last two weeks, and (he’s) a guy that certainly warrants a little bit more playing time on defense,” Johnson said of Hardy. Hardy certainly has taken advantage of his opportunity, and given Johnson’s comments, it feels like he should still get ample involvement in the defensive game plan, even with Sweat coming back this week against Seattle. Sweat’s numbers this season aren’t inspiring, so it’s hard to get super excited about his return from a game-changing standpoint, but as Johnson called him today, he’s been “kind of a steady Eddie” this season. Johnson said Sweat has held down the run game this season. He said they’ll keep finding ways to make him more effective in the pass rush, but noted that as the team’s premier pass rusher from an opponent game-planning standpoint, Sweat gets extra attention, making it harder to convert. © David Banks-USA TODAY Sports Here’s an interesting question from Danny Parkins: Would you trade two first-round picks for Jeffery Simmons? Spoiler: The poll results lean “no” by more than 60 percent.

#Bears fans, would you trade 2 first round picks for Jeffrey Simmons? He's 29, under contract through 2030 at roughly $35 million/year, and is one of the best defensive lineman in football.

Another day, another practice without running back Kyle Monangai and cornerbacks Tyrique Stevenson and Malik Muhammad. The first injury report of the week won’t come out until tomorrow because of the altered MNF schedule, but it’ll be interesting to see the status of that trio.
