Amazing Offense (Kinda), D-Rose the Producer, and Other Bulls Bullets

It’s game day, Bulls fans, and on the surface, a possible win for Chicago (don’t hold your breath).

The Bulls are hosting the reigning NBA Champions, the New York Knicks, at the United Center tonight. Both teams have a 1-3 record, but the Knicks are still the clear favorites. That said, if Chicago needs a win against a team like the Knicks, this slump is probably the best time to get it.

And apparently, the Bulls actually have the offense to win tonight. And every other game. (Conditionally.)

Also, Derrick Rose has taken on a new project.

    Let’s talk Bulls bullets.

Yes, we’re just four games in, but the Knicks’ championship hangover has been real. And even though they did win their first game last night, they are playing on the second night of a back-to-back. About as ideal of conditions as the Bulls could ask for to get a good win under their belt. And it looks like the Bulls have the offense to do it. While watching Chicago play, have you felt like you’re watching a rushed, somewhat disorganized offense that doesn’t fit their game plan? Me too. But the numbers don’t actually back up the eye test here. So far this season, the 2026-27 Chicago Bulls have a league-best location eFG% at 56.1%. In non-nerd terms, it’s basically a measure of how efficiently a team is shooting from different areas of the court. And Chicago are the best at it. We’ve seen some of those highlights, like the example of the play that went viral with Norman Powell running Tiago Splitter’s action.

    — Andrew Kurzeja (@AndrewKurzeja) October 23, 2026 It could also be because Chicago are shooting a ton of threes that aren’t being guarded by opposing defenses because they don’t respect the shooter. Chicago are shooting 42.0 3PA, which is 10.8 attempts per game more than the 2017 Warriors. At the end of the day, they are theoretically generating the best shots. But they just can’t make those shots, and that is more of a roster construction issue for a rebuilding team. Chicago are last in the NBA in three-point percentage and last in field-goal percentage. They are also 1/21 from the right corner so far this season. We knew this problem would come up, literally in the offseason, but the promise was that shooting can be taught. And hopefully, as the season progresses, we see the Bulls taking advantage of all the great shots they are attempting.

The Chicago Bulls currently have the #1 shot selection in the NBA… but can't make anything ?– Location eFG%: 56.1% (1st in NBA)– Actual eFG%: 46.7% (29th in NBA)Chicago is shooting 42.0 threes per game at a 23.8% clip through four games pic.twitter.com/orjxiYWrT2

    — NBABase (@TheNBABase) October 28, 2026 Former MVP Derrick Rose is back in the limelight, and this time it’s not for his flower business. In fact, D-Rose is now an executive producer of a movie. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Rose is an executive producer of ‘Three Colors: Pan-African’, a narrative feature that just screened at the Chicago International Film Festival. Directed by Elijah Davis, Tyler Ocasio Holmes and Allison A. Waite, the three-part anthology explores the breadth of the Black experience. Rose has previously produced other movies as well, including ‘Punch 9’, ‘Pooh: The Derrick Rose Story’ and ‘Becoming a Rose.’ There are both Chicago and NBA links in making this movie come to life, as the film is directed by Chicago native Elijah Davis, the son of longtime NBA referee Marc Davis. The movie has already won awards at the Slamdance Film Festival and the American Black Film Festival and is in talks with distributors to bring the film to theaters nationwide next year.

“Those are stories that I love to figure out,” said Derrick Rose. “I love the untold stories.”

The Blackhawks won 2-1, and hopefully, that motivated Splitter to get a win of his own tonight.
