Fans of Noah Wyle‘s character, Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, on the HBO Max series, The Pitt, can breathe a sigh of relief.
During an appearance on the October 27 episode of Amy Poehler‘s podcast, Good Hang, Wyle teased some information about his character in the show’s upcoming third season, which is set to be released in January 2027.
While recording the podcast episode, Poehler noted that Dr. Robby intended on taking a motorcycle trip after the events of the show’s second season. The Parks and Recreation star told Wyle she hopes Dr. Robby has a positive experience while out on his motorcycle trip and comes back unscathed in season 3, which is set to premiere in January 2027. Wyle replied by suggesting that Poehler will be pleased with the show’s third season.
“I think you’re going to be okay. The fact that he comes back at all is a wonderful sign,” said Wyle.

Wyle discussed Dr. Robby’s troubling mindset in a May 2026 interview on Warner Bros. Television Group’s A Lot More podcast. He noted that Dr. Robby’s decision not to wear a helmet while riding his motorcycle shows that “he’s letting the fates dictate the course of events right now.”
“He’s taking his own critical judgment out of the equation and letting the chips fall where they may. And that is a great way of introducing that notion that this is a guy who you can’t necessarily believe what he’s saying and that he doesn’t necessarily even know what he’s doing,” said Wyle.
In addition, Wyle said that his character had an “increasing sense of dissociation building, and an inability to stay in this work and not have this work continually add to the problem” following the traumatic events of season 1.
“I think that he’s been asking for help, pushing help away, wanting to find help, having to be the help. You know, it’s been an unenviable place to be. And I think we finally see him work through over the course of second season, get to a place of like the possibility of hope that hadn’t been there before,” said the actor.
In addition, he noted that Dr. Robby’s monologue to Baby Jane Doe in the season 2 finale shows the character has hopes for his future.
“At the end of the season, I think he hears himself giving this advice to this innocent, you know, another abandoned soul in this room that’s totally loaded with emotion and memory to someone who won’t be able to repeat what he’s about to say,” continued Wyle. “He starts giving a hopeful prognosis for her future. It’s the first time we’ve seen him entertain the possibility that he might have a healthy prognosis.”
