With its glittering chandeliers and Parisian-inspired dining room, The Cake Bake Shop by Gwendolyn Rogers quickly became an absolute juggernaut on Disney’s BoardWalk. The enchanting atmosphere has made it one of the most popular reservations in all of Walt Disney World, with sit-down tables snatched up weeks in advance and lines consistently snaking out the door for its famous bakery treats.
Now, there’s finally a clever way to experience the lavish interior and signature bites without booking a pricey multi-course dinner or waiting in an endless queue.
As first reported by Disney travel expert Tom Bricker of Disney Tourist Blog, Cake Bake Shop has quietly rolled out “Cake Bake Social,” an afternoon happy-hour offering running Mondays through Thursdays from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“The good news is that the restaurant seems to once again be listening, and is introducing Cake Bake Social… This is the shop’s twist on a traditional happy hour,” Bricker writes. “Reserve your table in the Cake Bake lounge via OpenTable, or simply walk in and pull up a barstool, which are available on a first come, first serve basis.”

The Midday Menu Deals
View this post on InstagramThe new afternoon menu offers a rare chance to sample this high-end kitchen and gorgeous dining room at a fraction of standard meal pricing—and the offerings deliver serious value.
The standout savory bite is the Pommes Frites with Signature Sauces for $11. Considering the restaurant’s standard menu lists them for $19, scoring them for nearly half off makes this one of the smartest afternoon snacks along Crescent Lake. Even better, they arrive hot and crispy alongside your choice of three house-made dipping sauces from a lineup of eight, including garlic aioli, lemon aioli, basil aioli, dijonnaise, and a rich pimento cheese sauce.
If you want something heartier, the menu features a trio of Pimento Burger Sliders made with Certified Angus Beef, melted pimento cheese, and pickles on toasted mini brioche buns for $16. Compared to the restaurant’s signature $28 full-sized burger, it’s a filling, savory plate that feels custom-made for sharing over drinks.
The bar specials are just as inviting. Guests can sip on $13 signature cocktails—including the Corazón Blanco-based Pink Lady Margarita with guava and Crème de Pêche, and the vibrant Empress gin Lavender Collins—or choose from $10 glasses of French Chardonnay, Italian Montepulciano, and Saint-Hilaire sparkling Brut.
To satisfy a sweet tooth without taking down a giant $22 slice of cake, the kitchen also blends a rotating “Cake Shake of the Day” for $10.
“I’d happily go to the Cake Bake Social, ordering the Pimento Burger Sliders and Cake Bake Shake of the Day for a total of $26,” Bricker writes. For an afternoon break that pairs a hearty savory bite with a handcrafted dessert in a luxury lounge, he adds that the combination “should be enough to get some fans in the door who previously balked at pricing, and that’s a small victory in itself.”

The Ultimate Crescent Lake Break
Meghann Foye
Because the restaurant sits along Disney’s BoardWalk, you don’t need a theme park ticket to visit, making it an ideal anchor for a leisurely non-park rest day.
If you’re staying at one of the Crescent Lake properties—like Disney’s BoardWalk Inn, Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts, or the Swan and Dolphin—it’s the ultimate afternoon treat. Even if you’re spending your morning fighting crowds at EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, the location offers a perfect midday escape. You can easily stroll out of EPCOT’s International Gateway or hop on a Friendship Boat from Hollywood Studios, duck into the air-conditioned lounge for a cocktail and sliders between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., and recharge your batteries right when afternoon park wait times peak.
It also highlights how vibrant the entire Crescent Lake promenade has become for a relaxing stroll. Beyond grabbing a slice at the walk-up Pizza Window or browsing the resort shops, the area just debuted Hurly-Burly, a brand-new, nostalgic waterfront lounge with live entertainment.
Whether you want to admire the seasonal holiday decorations inside Cake Bake or simply want a refined cocktail without the stress of snagging a 60-day reservation, this afternoon window might just be the sweetest, lowest-stress detour on property.
