When you order a steak at a restaurant, you expect to receive the cut of meat you paid for. But one Texas Roadhouse customer says he was repeatedly served a less expensive steak than the one he ordered, and he’s sharing his frustration with the popular restaurant chain.
Kenneth Card, a customer at a Texas Roadhouse location in Forsyth, Illinois, claims he ordered an eight-ounce Dallas Filet, priced at $29.99, but was served an eight-ounce sirloin, which costs $19.49, instead. And according to Card, it wasn’t an isolated incident. He says the same thing happened on three separate visits.
Card shared his experience in an Oct. 5 TikTok video, explaining that he believes he can tell the difference between the two cuts because of his previous experience working in restaurant and hotel kitchens.
According to Card, he brought the mistake to the restaurant’s attention after the first incident but decided not to complain when he believed it happened a second time. After the third alleged mix-up, however, he says he asked to speak with a manager.

The price difference between the two steaks is $10.50, and Card says he’s frustrated that he repeatedly received what he believes was a cheaper cut of meat despite paying for the more expensive filet.
Texas Roadhouse has responded to the allegations, acknowledging that a steak mix-up occurred during one of Card’s visits but saying it could not verify that the same mistake happened three times.
The restaurant chain’s response is an important distinction, as Card’s claims about the additional incidents have not been independently confirmed.
Card, who says he had been a regular customer at the location, has indicated that he doesn’t plan to return following his experiences.

The complaint has attracted attention online, raising questions about how customers can tell whether they’ve received the correct cut of steak when dining out.
While filet mignon and sirloin are both popular steakhouse choices, they come from different parts of the cow. Filet mignon is cut from the tenderloin and is known for its tenderness, while sirloin generally has a firmer texture and a more pronounced beefy flavor.
For customers paying a premium for filet mignon, that difference can matter.
And while Texas Roadhouse has acknowledged one mistake, the question of whether Card was served the wrong steak on three separate occasions remains unresolved.
