The HGTV star went on to explain that “at 37.5 weeks pregnant,” she attended her weekly exam with her doctor on Wednesday, Oct. 7. “[E]xpecting about 20-40 minutes of uneventful monitoring,” she notes that she had “been feeling the baby moving around a lot so [she] wasn’t concerned about her,” and had “been having some Braxton Hicks contractions but nothing that [she] considered serious.”
However, Jasmine says, “As I sat there, the nurse poked her head in asking if I could feel the contractions I was having? Imagine my surprise when she pointed out I was having regular contractions about 3-4 minutes apart. As she told me about them, if I really paid attention I could feel them, but I was so used to being uncomfortable (aka in labor!) I didn’t even realize what was happening.”
Jasmine went on to explain that the next few hours involved getting the hospital bag that was already packed and waiting in her car, her husband Brett Roth, 41, arriving at the hospital before refamiliarizing himself with some potentially important birthing info, and giving an update to the couple’s two older daughters, Hazel Lynn Roth, 6, and Darla Rose Roth, 2.
When Jasmine’s labor ramped up, she says that although she had “signed up for a room with a birthing tub,” she “never actually made it into the water” and started pushing as soon as she “climbed up on the bed.”
“The pain was intense and I struggled to find a comfortable position,” she recalled. “There were lots of people in the room but I kept myself pretty focused and didn’t open my eyes much. I didn’t feel calm or in control, but I also never asked for the epidural, so I must have been doing better than I felt. I knew she was going to be there so soon. I pushed for over an hour.”

“The relief that she was out, safe, and just perfect is beyond something I can explain in words,” Jasmine noted. “The amount of love for someone you’ve just met is the deepest, most overwhelming feeling ľ’ve experienced.”
