Fans of “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” were charmed by the onscreen chemistry between Jane Seymour, 75, who played Dr. Michaela “Mike” Quinn, and Joe Lando, 64, who appeared as Byron Sully. Now, Seymour has opened up about their offscreen chemistry, including the fact that they fell in love in real life.
While Seymour and Lando reunited for a panel at 90s Con in Hartford, Conn., on Saturday, Oct. 17, Seymour revealed what she first thought of Lando, according to People, saying, “My feeling was I saw him and I went, ‘Oh my God, I’ve not seen a man that looks that gorgeous as long as I can maybe ever remember except, you know, as an imaginary, you know, romance song or something.’”
She then admitted, “We really fell in love. That’s a secret. It’s not a secret, is it anymore?”

The actress also opened up about a scary situation that brought her closer to Lando. When a flash flood hit the set of their show not long after they started working together, Lando got Seymour into his pickup truck, and the pair not only escaped any danger, but also went out for Mexican food and margaritas.
“We got out of there and it was like the craziest thing ever,” Seymour recalled. “And it took us like $5, and then we realized that, you know, we had actually fallen in love.”
She added, “So everything you saw on Dr. Quinn, certainly in the pilot [was real].”

However, the real-life romance wasn’t meant to last, and Seymour explained why they broke up not long after getting together, saying, “We realized that Joe really needed to — he had a plan. He had a, was it a four-child white picket fence [plan]? And a younger wife plan.”
Seymour noted that she “was older” and thought that she “was never gonna be able to have [more] kids;” however, she added, “But I showed him — I had twins.”
