Max Verstappen is beginning to enjoy himself again, and his Formula 1’s rivals have every reason to take notice.
Fresh from claiming his first Singapore Grand Prix victory in 10 attempts, the Red Bull driver is looking forward to the final stretch of the 2026 campaign with renewed enthusiasm, as his team’s resurgence continues to gather momentum.
Verstappen delivered a controlled performance under the Marina Bay lights on Sunday, resisting Charles Leclerc’s early challenge before pulling clear of the Ferrari driver to secure his second consecutive Grand Prix victory.
The result also marked a personal milestone, arriving on his 250th Grand Prix start and finally adding Singapore to a collection of victories that had conspicuously lacked the demanding street circuit.
Before Sunday, Verstappen had finished on the podium four times in Singapore, including runner-up finishes in both 2024 and 2025.
“It’s taken a while, but I think this race was very good,” he smiled after finally breaking his Marina Bay duck.
A Red Bull package coming alive
Verstappen’s success was no flash in the pan. Having secured his breakthrough victory of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia last time out, the Dutchman and Red Bull have now strung together consecutive wins, a welcome return to form after a difficult opening phase of the championship.
The significant upgrades introduced in Azerbaijan appear to have helped unlock more performance from the RB22, allowing Verstappen to compete at the sharp end with greater consistency.
In Singapore, his race was built on a determined opening defence against Leclerc, whose lightning getaway threatened to wrest control from the polesitter before Verstappen held him off into Turn 1.
The Red Bull driver admitted his launch had left little margin for error, but once he had preserved his position, he had the pace to dictate proceedings.
“Yeah, well, you always try to do your best and luckily it was just good enough,” he said, referencing his wheel-to-wheel duel off the line with Charles Leclerc.
“We had pace when we needed to have it on the soft tyre and on the medium, even though I think the medium tyre for everyone was a bit more of a struggle.
“It worked out, so of course I’m very happy to win here.”
That adaptability across the two compounds proved crucial on a circuit where tyre management and track position can make or break a race. Verstappen was able to build a comfortable advantage and manage the gap to Leclerc when Ferrari attempted to mount a late challenge.
‘Hopefully we can have a bit more fun’
The prospect of carrying that form into the remaining rounds is clearly energising Verstappen, who has seen his team make tangible progress after a challenging start to the season.
Red Bull’s recent performances suggest the squad has found a more productive direction with its development programme, while the atmosphere inside the team appears to be benefiting from the results.
“I think the last few races have been really positive for us, and it’s just great to see. We have a lot of motivation in the team to try and deliver even more results,” Verstappen added.
“It’s a really good group of people. I really enjoy working with them, and hopefully we can have a bit more fun until the end of the year.”

That final remark offered an upbeat glimpse of Verstappen’s outlook as the championship enters its closing phase. Although the Dutchman still has ground to make up in the title fight, consecutive victories have given Red Bull fresh impetus and a reason to believe it can remain a serious contender.
From a long-awaited Singapore triumph to a second successive win, the momentum is finally moving in Verstappen’s direction.

For now, however, his priority appears simpler: keep the RB22 competitive, keep the victories coming and enjoy the ride while Red Bull’s revival is in full swing.
