World Aquatics World Cup #2 – Tashkent

October 8-10, 2026 Tashkent, Uzbekistan SCM (25 meters) Meet Central Results Psych Sheets How To Watch Recaps Prelims: Day 1 | Day 2 Finals: Day 1 | Day 2

The final day of the Tashkent, Uzbekistan stop of the World Aquatics Swimming World Cup is underway, and the highlight of the day is expected to be the men’s 100 backstroke final.

There, South African Pieter Coetze is chasing more history after setting a World Record in the 50 meter backstroke on Friday. He dropped more than four tenths of a second between his swim in Baku and Tashkent in the 50; the transitive property of swimming then puts him within striking distance of the record in this 100 meter race as well.

Other highlight events for Day 3 include the women’s 50 breaststroke, featuring Tes Schouten, Mona McSharry, Aimee Canny, Yulia Efimova, Nika Godun, Sophie Angus, and the top seed out of prelims and relative newcomer Ralina Giliazova.

The men’s 200 breaststroke should also be an exciting race with the 2025 World Championship bronze medalist Caspar Corbeau leading the way as the top seed out of prelims. He’s followed by a field that includes American Luke Barr, who has had a really good meet to this point, and highly decorated Russian swimmer Kirill Prigoda.

    Men’s 400 IM – Timed Final

World Record: 3:54.81, Daiya Seto (Japan) – 2019 World Cup Record: 3:56.13, Shaine Casas (USA) – 2025 Carson Foster (USA) – 3:58.82 Ilia Borodin (Russia) – 3:59.42 Alberto Razzetti (Italy) – 4:01.53

American Carson Foster used a fast front half to hold off Russia’s Ilia Borodin in the men’s 400 IM final.

Foster opened up a three second lead on his main competitors Borodin and Alberto Razzetti at the halfway mark with an aggressive backstroke leg.

In spite of being a very good breaststroker, Foster gave a lot of that back to Borodin over the next 100 meters as the gap closed from 3.18 seconds to 1.72 seconds.

Borodin clawed back more time on the freestyle leg, but Foster held on to win by a six-tenths of a second margin. He was about 1.6 seconds slower than he swam at the last stop. In Baku, he split 1:07.52 on the breaststroke leg, whereas here in Tashkent he split 1:08.45, which made up the bulk of the difference.

Borodin, now 23, has still not matched his 3;56.47 from 2021 that stands as the World Junior, Russian, and European Records.

Japan’s So Ogata was 4th in 4:03.34 followed by New Zealand’s Lewis Clareburt in 5th in 4:04.26. The World Cup Record holder Shaine Casas is at this meet, but didn’t swim the 400 IM.
