Days of Our Lives’ Kristian Alfonso is opening up about her time on the soap opera she called home for over 40 years as Hope Williams Brady, and how she feels the show could be great again.
Alfonso was recently interviewed by Soap Central writer Michael Maloney, during which they discussed Bo’s (Peter Reckell) closure, Hope’s love story, and her overall love for the show.
During the conversation, Alfonso reflected on how Days of Our Lives’ decision to take their time with Bo and Hope’s love story contributed to the show’s success. The actress shared how she felt a personal responsibility for her work. “I’ve always felt, and I hold myself accountable as well,” she said.
Alfonso explained that, as an actor, when you show up on set, “it should be all hands on deck.” The actress added, “We’re a team. You have to be a team.”
The actress shared that when you are part of the show, you can “Never take [anything] for granted.”
Alfonso believes that the show can be great again, but it is only when everyone, both behind-the-scenes and in front of the camera, works together. “I say that a show can always be a great, magnificent show if you have all hands on deck and everyone shows up,” Alfonso said.
Alfonso joined the cast of Days of Our Lives in 1983 as Hope Williams, the daughter of Doug Williams (Bill Hayes). Hope’s on-screen romance with Reckell’s Bo skyrocketed both of them into Super Couple status.
Alfonso left Days of Our Lives for the first time in 1987 alongside Reckell, before returning briefly in 1990 to facilitate the return of Reckell to the soap opera. She then returned full-time in 1994 and remained so until her full-time exit in 2020.
Alfonso has since made three further appearances, including a brief stint on the spin-off series Days of Our Lives: Beyond Salem. Fans are hopeful that the actress will one day return once again to the soap opera.
In addition to her time in daytime, Alfonso’s credits include appearances in Falcon Crest, Full House, Melrose Place, and V.C. Andrews’ Landry Family, among others.
