The Protect College Sports Act has passed the first of three procedural votes required to be signed into law.
On Tuesday, the Senate held their first procedural vote for the Protect College Sports Act, and the vote passed 74-24 with two absentees, who reportedly support the bill according to Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger.
Speaking from the Capitol, Sen. Ted Cruz tells @YahooSports that the true vote count is 76, as the two absentees (Coons and Rosen) support the legislation. They are bill co-sponsors. t.co/MfiT7c9oKW

A minimum of one day is required between each of the three votes, and Dellenger says Senate Leaders are targeting “mid-next week” for the third and final vote before the bill will move onto the House of Representatives.
The bill features changes to rules like transfering, conference limits, and includes safeguards for non-revenue sports, like swimming and diving.
If the bill passes all three votes in the senate it will move to the House of Representatives, where a majority vote will send it to the desk of the President where Senator Ted Cruz, one of the bills go sponsors says, “I fully expect this will be signed into law before election day.”
