Ole Miss got off to a slow start on Sunday night in Nashville, but a huge second half from Trinidad Chambliss helped the Rebels get into the win column in Week 1.
The Rebels defeated Louisville 41-38 behind a tremendous performance from Chambliss, particularly after the break. All in all, Chambliss threw for 336 yards and 3 touchdown passes while rushing for 60 more yards and another score on the ground.
That stat line included a pair of 62-yard touchdown passes to Deuce Alexander — yes, 2 of them —in the second half. The second TD to Alexander gave the Rebels an 8-point lead, though that edge would prove to be brief.
Louisville tied the game at 24-24 shortly thereafter, but Chambliss had enough firepower to push Ole Miss back out in front again. He found Caleb Odom for a 35-yard TD to make it 31-24 and then he rushed for a TD with 6:43 to go to make it 38-24.
After falling behind by 14 points, Louisville’s offense rebounded in a big way with explosive TD drives. Lincoln Kienholz threw for the first score and ran for the second, which tied the game with just over a minute remaining.

However, in the end, there was too much time on the clock for Chambliss and Ole Miss. Chambliss led a methodical field goal drive and set up Ole Miss kicker Lucas Carneiro for a game-winning 48-yard field goal:
