Former Ventura County Teacher and Coach Remanded Into Custody Ahead of Trial For Inappropriate Relationships With Students

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. (KEYT) – Former teacher and coach Ronald Wilson, who is already facing multiple felony charges for inappropriate relationships with students, was remanded into custody without bail after the court found that he violated the terms of his pretrial release.

Wilson is currently facing 13 felony counts involving four different survivors and the allegations date back to his time as a teacher and wrestling coach at Oxnard High School in the 1990s and up to as recently as 2016 while working at Camarillo High School detailed the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

In early August of this year, information was provided to the Sheriff's Office detectives about Wilson's activities on social media that detectives later found violated the conditions of his pretrial release explained the local prosecutor's office.

According to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, while he was under investigation for potential social media-based violations of his pretrial release, Wilson was seen attending a church service in Ventura.

The church shares a property with a school that was hosting a back-to-school event and Wilson's presence violated a separate condition of his release noted the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

During a hearing on Sep. 1, prosecutors argued Wilson's actions on social media and attending the church service where children were known to be present violated the conditions of his release and the the court agreed explained the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.

Local prosecutors shared that the court found both actions were violations, ordered Wilson remanded into custody without bail pending his trial.

Wilson is next due in court for a preliminary hearing on Sep. 22, 2026 added the Ventura County District Attorney's Office.
