    The programme is designed by the BCCI Centre of Excellence to create baseline fitness records for India’s centrally contracted players ahead of the busy 2026-27 season. The players have reported in different batches throughout the week to make sure every player gets proper attention.

    Indian players undergo advanced DXA Scans

    The Indian players went through a detailed fitness screening programme that focused on their workload capacity, endurance and overall physical condition. They underwent the high-intensity Yo-Yo test and 2K running test, along with the newly introduced Bronco test.

    The BCCI has also added more advanced technology to the programme. Actually, the centrally contracted players also underwent DXA scans, which help measure bone density and body composition in detail to give the board a clearer picture of each player’s physical condition.

    2K Run: Players must complete a 2-kilometre run in 9 to 10 minutes.

    Yo-Yo Test: This test checks a player’s stamina and aerobic fitness, and they need at least 16.5 to pass.

    India’s recent white-ball tours of Ireland and England were badly affected by injuries, with key players like Washington Sundar, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy and Jasprit Bumrah missing the games. Additionally, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Hardik Pandya were also unavailable due to fitness issues.

    The injury problems also affected India’s team combination, with captain Shubman Gill admitting that player unavailability created a major selection headache during the third and final ODI against England.
