The #3 ranked recruit for the boys way too early rankings for the class of 2027 Shareef Elaydi has announced his commitment to Texas. Elaydi was one of three top 20 ranked recruits to not yet have announced their commitments.

Elaydi swims for Santa Clara Swim Club out of California and most recently swam at US Nationals last month. There he was highlighted by a 24th place finish in the 100 breast with a 1:03.00.
He enters his senior year this fall at Archbishop Mitty High School where he swam to a CIF title this past May in the 100 breast as he swam a lifetime best 52.01 as well as a 1:46.68 200 IM. He also helped the team’s 200 free relay to a win as he split a 20.46 leadoff leg in finals.
He has a history of success in butterfly as well, most notably finishing 11th in the 200 fly with a 2:01.21 at the 2025 World Junior Championships. He also is the boys 13-14 National Age Group (NAG) record holder in the LCM 200 IM as he swam a 2:03.73 back in March 2024.

100 breast: 51.85 200 breast: 1:55.12 100 fly: 46.78 200 fly: 1:42.80 200 IM: 1:43.82The Texas men have swam to back-t0-back NCAA titles and were led by Hubert Kos this past season. The team scored 445.5 points to finish ahead of Florida’s 416 points.
Based on his best times, Elaydi is not far off what it took to make the 2026 NCAA Championships in the 100 breast and 200 IM. It took a 51.45 to earn an invite in the 100 breast and a 1:42.69 200 IM to earn an invite.
Texas had three men in the ‘A’ final of the 100 breast as Campbell McKean was 2nd in a 50.25, Nate Germonprez was 3rd in a 50.38, and Will Modglin was 8th in a 51.01. 5th place finisher Luka Mladenovic arrives this fall as a transfer from Michigan. The 200 IM was led by Baylor Nelson (3rd, 1:40.08) and Will Modglin (4th, 1:40.94).
Elaydi is the latest top 20 ranked recruit to announce their plan to arrive in Austin in fall 2027 joining #1 ranked and #20 ranked Ellis Crisci. Honorable Mention ranked recruit Ian Call has also announced his commitment to the Longhorns.
