Earlier this month, TCU dismissed safety Jacob Fields from the program. On Tuesday, Steven Johnson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported that Fields was involved in an altercation with an offensive player. Johnson notes that the TCU crime and fire log showed an aggravated assault occurred in the locker room on Aug. 13 and was reported the following day.
TCU junior wide receiver Dozie Ezukanma was revealed to be the offensive player involved in the incident. A post by the X account @CollegeFBPortal described Ezukanma as hospitalized as of early Thursday.

The video showed Ezukanma’s “carpet burn” from the fight and alleges that Fields “sucker punched” the wide receiver. A man in the video reportedly states that Ezukanma did not go to the hospital and was struck once from behind.
Fields joined TCU as a transfer from Louisiana Tech. He was Conference USA Defensive Player of the Year and expected to replace Bud Clark, an All-Big 12 safety last year, in the 2026 lineup. Ezukanma is entering his sophomore season. The 6-3, 190-pound receiver had 2 catches for 28 yards in 2025.
