CARLTON, N.Y. — A person suffered minor injuries after Orleans County Sheriff’s deputies say a boat caught fire on the Oak Orchard River.
Deputies say it happened just before 6 a.m. Tuesday. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Unit found the burning boat near the dock area and towed it to the Orleans County boat launch. The remaining flames were extinguished, and marine deputies then helped with removing the damaged boat from the water.
As a result of the fire, deputies say one Orleans County-owned dock and a second boat had damage. They say no other property damaged was reported.
The owner of the boat that caught fire had minor injuries, but deputies say they declined evaluation or treatment from medical personnel. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
