Lahiru Udara and Pawan Sandesh gave Kandy Royals a flying start in the chase. Udara scored 30 off 15 balls, while Sandesh made 48 from 21 deliveries as the Royals raced to 41 in just three overs before Shakib Al Hasan dismissed Udara.
Kusal Perera, who replaced Angelo Mathews in the playing XI, scored 16 off 10 balls. Dunith Wellalage then turned the match in Jaffna Kings' favour with an outstanding spell of 3/11 in two overs.
