Tommy Lee Jones is back on the red carpet, 9 months after his daughter’s death.
The legendary actor, 80, is known for diverse roles ranging from The Fugitive and Blown Away to the Men in Black franchise alongside Will Smith. While he tends to shy away from the spotlight in the majority of situations, the star is back in action. He just hit the red carpet premiere of season 2 of FX’s The Lowdown at AFS Cinema in Austin, Texas. In the series, Jones plays the father of Oklahoma “truthstorian” Lee Raybon, played by Ethan Hawke. Now that’s quite the onscreen duo.

Jones Lost His Daughter on January 1
On January 1, 2026, Jones’ daughter Victoria died at age 34. The following day, the family shared a statement requesting privacy.
“We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you,” they said.
The following month, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in San Francisco, California, announced that Victoria had died due to “toxic effects of cocaine,” and ruled the manner of her death as an “accident,” PEOPLE shared.
Victoria made her film debut in her father’s 2002 movie Men in Black II, and had some sporadic appearances onscreen throughout the years. However, she dealt with occasional legal trouble, including two drug arrests.
What’s Next for Tommy Lee Jones?
Tommy has some exciting work on the docket. Earlier this week, Focus Features announced it acquired rights to Outside Man, a neo-Western thriller that has Jones starring opposite Ice Cube. Written and directed by Brian Helgeland, the project is set to start filming in November, Deadline shared.
The film is about a former Chicago mob enforcer, Ruben Bowman, played by Ice Cube, who is released from prison and is determined to improve his life. While in rural Texas, he works under retired Texas Ranger Gus Wanamaker, played by Jones. However, the past starts to catch up with the duo, and trouble ensues.
