Naperville’s own John Summit was given a special gift by Illinois Governor JB Pritzker on Wednesday to celebrate the popular DJ’s birthday and Lollapalooza headline set.
Freshly 32-years-old, Summit will perform at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday on the Bud Light stage.
He shared with his social media followers some of the things he’s been up to in the Windy City ahead of his show, including opening the gift he received from the governor.
“Shoutout the boy JB Pritzker, gave me a personal gift for my birthday. A bottle of Malört,” Summit said in a video posted to social media. “It is a unique booze to say the least. Doesn’t go down easy.”
“Thank you, JB,” Summit said in the video while raising a shot.
After taking the shot, Summit winces for a few seconds before clapping his hands and giving a double thumbs up.
Pritzker wrote Summit a note to go along with the bottle.
“John, Welcome home! Have fun and take a moment to enjoy — you’ve earned it. I know tequila is your drink of choice but you’re in Chicago so mix in a shot of Malört with some friends tonight,” Pritzker said in the hand-written message.
Summit also visited Lurie Children’s Hospital ahead of his Lollapalooza set for their “Luriepalooza” event.
“Patients, staff and volunteers enjoyed colorful crafts and event merch, festival glam, tie-dye, tarot card readings, and plenty of music and Luriepalooza swag,” a representative of Lurie said. Summit helped host Lollapalooza-themed trivia on the hospital’s closed-circuit TV station for those who couldn’t attend the event in person.
“thx @luriechildrens for having me today! was a blast visiting the kids & meeting you all,” Summit said in a post on his Instagram story.
