2026 Bulldog Grand Slam
June 26-28, 2026 Gabrielsen Natatorium, Athens, GA LCM (50 meters) “2026 Bulldog Grand Slam – copied” on Meet MobileThe Gabrielsen Natatorium played host to the 2026 Bulldog Grand Slam. While the meet was filled with talent from the University of Georgia, it was 13-year-old Parker Wheeler from SwimAtlanta who managed to notch several lifetime bests as he raced multiple high-level collegiate swimmers.
Wheeler had a loaded schedule of seven events, four of which he managed to swim lifetime bests in. Wheeler swam a best time in each event that he made finals in, those being the 50 back (28.46, 25th), 200 back (2:19.66, 24th), 200 breast (2:55.92, 29th), and the 50 fly (26.46, 19th). He dropped best times in both prelims and finals in both the 200 breast and 200 back, though his 200 back was his biggest drop of the meet, swimming a 2:22.16 in prelims, before taking another two and a half seconds off of that time in the finals.
Wheeler was not the only standout in Athens; Ruard Van Renen, Georgia’s backstroke ace, picked up four meet victories, including two backstroke wins in both the 50 back (25.00) and 100 back (54.23), neither of which marked best times. In the 50 fly, Van Renen would make a dent in his personal record book, winning the event in 23.94, his first time under the 24-second barrier after clocking his previous best about a month earlier at the ABSC IMX/Knockout Series meet in 24.13. He also added a win in the 100 fly to complete the backstroke and butterfly sprint sweeps with a 53.29.
Another Bulldog, Tomas Koski, found himself a two-time winner in his home pool, picking up both the 200 free (1:47.12) and 400 Free (3:49.51). Neither of which marked a best time, unlike his 800 free, though he finished 2nd to Sean Green (8:08.19), Koski clocked his fastest-ever performance in 8:10.44, besting his former best from May of 8:13.76, a more than three-second drop.
On the women’s side, AB Curtis was unstoppable, earning five event wins and swimming best times in all of them. Those events included the 50 free (26.11), 100 free (56.96), 50 back (28.95), 100 back (1:01.79), and the 200 back (2:14.02).
Jude Banks, who is set to make his collegiate debut with the Bulldogs next season, notched a new lifetime best in the 100 breast at this meet in 1:01.68; this swim marks a three-tenths improvement from what he swam around this time last year at the Holtrey Summer Classic in 1:01.98.
Also in attendance was Tennessee’s Gabe Nunziata, who notched two breaststroke wins, touching first in the 50 breast in 28.08 and the 100 breast in 1:00.56.
