Estonian Junior champion Sheril Tankler has announced her verbal commitment to swim for the University of Northern Colorado beginning in the fall of 2027.

Tankler currently swims for Ujumise Spordiklubi (Swimming Sports Club) in Tartu, Estonia, and primarily specializes in free, fly and IM. She most recently competed at the MM ILIRIJA meet (LCM) in April, where she logged a series of top performances. She placed 5th in the 50 fly (28.86 – PB) and 200 free (2:07.84 – SB), 7th in the 100 free (58.38 – PB) and 10th in the 200 IM (2:30.85).
A month prior to that, Tamkler posted a strong showing at the 2026 Baltic State Championships (LCM). She earned a second swim in each of her individual events, taking 6th in the 200 IM (2:30.98), 8th in the 200 free (2:11.50) and 50 free (27.25) and 9th in the 100 free (59.09). She also set a best time of 27.10 in the preliminary heats of the 50 free.
Tankler turned in a string of fast performances at the 2025 Estonian Junior and Youth Championships (SCM) back in November. She claimed the championship title in the 17-18 girls’ category of the 100 free (55.99 – PB), 200 free (2:01.38 – PB), 200 IM (2:17.93 – PB) and 400 IM (5:00.03 – PB), and she placed 3rd in the 100 fly (1:03.64) and 4th in the 100 IM (1:04.64 – PB). She also helped her team to victory in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay, 200 medley relay and 400 medley relay, and she logged a lifetime best time of 1:05.15 in the 100 back as the leadoff on the 400 medley relay.

The Bears took 3rd-place at last season’s conference championships before sending one athlete, senior Maria Erokhina, to compete at the NCAA Division I Women’s Championship.
Based on the results from the 2026 MPSF Championships and her projected SCY converted times, Tankler would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 free and 200 free, the ‘B’ final in the 200 IM and the ‘C’ final in the 400 IM, setting her up to be a strong contributor when she joins the Bears.
The only other recruit currently committed to join Tankler in Northern Colorado’s class of 2031 is Lale Praeger from Germany, who specializes in free, back and fly and should make for a strong training partner.
